These are made of brass and oxidized to give the sheen to the sculpture. The features of the deities or the characters in these sculptures are carved very delicately and clearly, which is a very difficult task for metal work. These items are good to be kept outdoors in verandah or lawn as they will not turn black or get stained. Cleaning and maintaining these brass curios is also very simple. They can be cleaned with diluted detergent water and patted dry with a cloth. For shine, after drying completely, one can put a drop of coconut oil on a cloth and rub the surface of the sculpture. This will increase the glow and shine of the piece.
Copper Curios:
The copper curios are made of mix of metals using moulds. They are oxidized to retain the color and texture after wear and tear.

Kondapalli is a small village in Andhra Pradesh, about 25 kms from Vijayawada. This place is popular for the toys and items they make out of a special kind of wood. The hand carved items are then painted with vegetable dyes with no lead content at all. This makes it safe for toddlers and children to play with and the colors never fade even after years. Every family in Kondapalli village does this toy making at one point in time and had about 800 families earn their livelihood from this just a few years back. Today there are hardly 60 families left that are following this age old art. Most of them are moving out of their family craftsmanship due to lack of growth and better opportunities outside. If this continues, it won’t be long when this craft is no longer alive.
